Tokyo Food Guide
These are my favorite places but there are LOTS more. Suggestion: call the restaurant and ask them to fax you a map so you can find the place easily.
Chinese
Chugoku Hanten Across from Roppongi Hills. Delicious.
Tsukushiro
6419-2946. Reasonably priced shark's fin in a nice setting in Ebisu. Kinda noisy. Dexee Diner across the way is nice too.
Daini's Table 3224-1537 Minami-Aoyama 6-13-4. Yummy nouvelle Chinois, a bit expensive.
Ni Hao 3465-0747. Best gyoza in Tokyo, and that's a big claim. A bit far from anything
in Yoyogi area.
French and Nouvelle
Tableaux 5489-2201. Daikanyama. Like an adult French-Japanese young date set.
Izakaya Vin 3461-9764 Dogenzaka 1-5-7.
Shibuya station. Incredible wines, weak decor, not far from the station.
Chemin 3408-3344 Akasaka. Fabulous sommelier with wonderful cellar.
Italian
Bisboccia 3449-1470.
Appia
3444-5801, expensive. Both of these places are near Tengenji-bashi at the edge of Hiroo. Both
great but more celebrities at Appia.
Japanese
Ume no Hana 3475-8077. Everything in tofu. Go at 5:30pm or wait a month.
Yanmo
5466-0636. Omotesando.
Tokuyama Very expensive Nishi-Azabu with unbelievable food and prices.
Korean
GyoSaiShuKa
3478-2327. Nishi-Azabu. Over-the-top best Korean in Tokyo.
Soba
Sunaba Honten 3583-7670. I love this place, which was in the movie Tampopo.
Matsugen 3457-5690. Trendy architecture in Moto-Azabu.
Toshian:
Shirogane classic. Shibui and austere.
Sukiyaki
Sukiyaki Okahan: Ginza
3571-1417, also New Otani Hotel. Kimono-clad service.
Sushi
Tsukiji-zushi 3542-5775. Cheap and great.
Tempura
Miyakawa
3400-5541. Fabulous Omotesando counter place with a lovely host.
Other
Kanemasu
Stand and eat incredible kaiseki with big portions (for Japan)! Go at 4pm or wait
for hours. Weird.
Bars and Cafes
Den Aquarium Bar. Incredible fish in Omotesando.
Blue Point 3280-2020. Outdoor sunny afternoon or brunch in Shirogane. A scene.
